If we do not accept your insurance, we will be considered, out of network providers, which means, we do not bill your insurance company directly but, we will provide you with a receipt (called a superbill) for the sessions you paid for. We recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to find out what your out of network benefits are. Definitely not! It’s true many people wait until they are in crisis before they begin therapy. You can begin your journey of self discovery at any time and for any reason. There is no such thing as a right or wrong time.
YES! Most people feel this way when thinking about coming to therapy. Something inside wants to feel better, but another part may feel worried. For some, it might feel like there’s something wrong with us if we go to therapy. Others, might feel like life is ‘good enough’ and only people with ‘real problems’ need therapy. If there’s something inside that is nudging you to attend therapy, trust your instinct. This is the part of you that wants to grow and heal and you will have a compassionate, empathetic therapist with you on your journey.
The first step is a 15-minute consultation with us so we can who connect you with the therapist who is the best fit for you. There will be forms, emailed to you, to complete prior to your first session. At your first session your therapist will go over the forms you signed and then you may be asked something like, ‘so what brings you to counseling?” From there, a conversation will unfold as you begin to comfortably share your story. Your therapist will ask questions so they may get a sense of who you are and what your life looks like. Don’t worry if you don’t know what to talk about it. At the end of the session, our hope is, you may feel an immediate wish to schedule another appointment or you may want to take some time to think about it. Either way it’s totally fine. We just ask that you allow yourself a few sessions to make that decision. It’s a unique relationship and making sure it’s a good fit is very important. We completely support however the process unfolds for you.
Each therapy experience is a unique one. You will be in a safe, judgement-free space. Your therapist is your empathic companion, listening to your story, how you navigate the world, and what you are seeking help with. This understanding will unfold through conversations with your therapist. While listening is an important part, your therapist will also ask questions, explore perspectives and provide insight to particular beliefs you may be carrying. Sometimes you may know exactly what you want to talk about, and some days you may come wondering if you have anything to talk about. Both are just fine. Your experience with therapy will be a unique journey and we ask you to “not worry” and allow it to unfold organically. We will help you navigate the way and soon you will find yourself looking forward to certain moments of uncertainty as opportunities to explore and discover different aspects of your life.
