Kristin Kern

Graduate Counseling Intern

Supervised by Rochell Denise Clay, MA, LPC, RYT

Hi!

I’m Kristin, a Counseling Intern currently obtaining my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University.

I recognize that connecting with a new counselor can feel quite overwhelming, but I’d like to congratulate you on taking the first step toward your overall wellness. My greatest hope is that, together, we can create a safe space, free from all judgement, that will allow you to let go of all the weight that you have been carrying.

You are not alone in your experience! In our work together, we will not only clarify your goals and strengths, but also add tools to your emotional toolbox to facilitate positive change. I believe, wholeheartedly, that each and every person is unique, and therefore, deserves an individual approach to counseling. My approach is holistic, collaborative, and integrative to YOUR needs! I utilize an eclectic therapy approach, drawing from various methods, including: Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused, Trauma-Focused and Somatic Therapy, etc., so that our approach is unique to your needs, concerns, and goals.

While I have an interest in all populations, I maintain a special interest in populations experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), grief and loss, eating disorders, and self-harm.

I understand how significant this next step in your life is, and I feel so incredibly privileged to accompany you on your healing journey!
